The quality of images that we find for different animals varies quite a lot: proboscis monkeys seem to be unusual in zoos and difficult to photograph in the wild.

Marmosets are highly active, living in the upper canopy of forest trees, and feeding on insects, fruit and leaves. They have long lower incisors, which allow them to chew holes in tree trunks and branches to harvest the gum inside; some species are specialised feeders on gum.

I’ve been disappointed with the quality of images for some kinds of monkeys (I guess monkey houses are poorly lit, and so is the rainforest floor) but Macaques have turned out quite well.

It seems that many flickr photographers visit the Himalayas — they’ve certainly brought back a striking collection of yak photographs.
